Jina Jang completed her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at Seoul National University; Master of Music in Piano Performance and Literature at Eastman School of Music as a Graduate Award recipient; and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Pennsylvania State University. Her primary teachers include Hie-Yon Choi, Enrico Elisi, and Timothy Shafer. She continued her professional studies by attending masterclasses given by internationally renowned pianists, including Leon Fleisher, Thomas Schumacher, Anton Nel, Claudio Martinez-Mehner, Daniel Shapiro, Alexander Kobrin. She is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.
Dr. Jang is also an active soloist and chamber musician who has performed in North America, Europe, and South Korea. She has appeared in numerous concert series, including the 21st Concert for Young Prize winner at Young-San Art Hall in Seoul, Eastman Summit Piano Series in Rochester, NY, OnStage Korea Concert Series in Washington D.C., and Wildflower Music Festival in Honesdale, PA.
For over 15 years, Ms.Jina has been teaching students ages 5 to adult, and all levels from beginners to advanced. She also taught college-level private piano lessons as a teaching assistant at Pennsylvania State University. In her studio, students receive well-rounded music education, studying repertoire from all eras of classical music and emphasizing fundamentals such as the development of technical proficiency, sight-reading skills, and the study of music theory. She is an inspiring piano teacher who strongly encourages and motivates her students to reach their full potential.
After working as a collaborative pianist at Penn State University, she moved to the Bay Area, and she is passionate about sharing her musical knowledge with students to create an inspiring musical experience.
